Billy Jones, Vice-chair of Moye White’s Trial section, concentrates his practice in complex civil litigation involving franchise, distribution, insurance defense and coverage, product liability, and real estate.
Billy represents franchisors in disputes over franchisee claims, termination of franchise agreements, and a wide range of system compliance issues. He regularly counsels franchisors on risk management and dispute resolution before litigation arises. He also works closely with franchisors to review their systems and documents, avoid vicarious liability claims, and limit potential liability.
A true advocate, Billy protects the interests of his clients against claims of directors’ and officers’ liability, bad faith, negligence, and other torts. Billy has extensive experience defending against manufacturing, design defect, negligence, and breach of warranty claims.
Billy is a member of the American Bar Association Forum Committee on Franchising and the Defense Research Institute’s Committee on Product Liability. In 2009, he co-presented a session on “Products Liability Problems Facing Franchisors and Distributors” at DRI’s annual Product Liabilities Conference.
His practice has included appellate representation in a variety of federal and state courts, including the federal Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals, the Colorado Supreme Court, the Colorado Court of Appeals, the Virginia Supreme Court, and the South Dakota Supreme Court.
